Straight answer
We need to confirm three things: who you are (photo ID), where you live (a recent utility bill or bank statement) and that the payment method is yours. Many accounts clear the first two automatically through electronic checks against public records, with no upload needed.
Where documents are required, review typically takes up to 24–72 hours per submission. Rejections restart that clock, which is why photograph quality matters far more than people expect.
Why it happens before you play, not after you win
British licensing rules require operators to verify a customer's age and identity before allowing them to gamble, not before allowing them to withdraw. That was a deliberate change: the previous regime let people deposit and play first, and verification became a fight that only started once money was at stake.
In practice most accounts pass an electronic check silently. Your name, address and date of birth are matched against credit-reference and public records, and if the match is confident enough, nothing is asked of you. You will not necessarily know it happened.
Documents are requested when that check cannot confirm you: recent house moves, thin credit files, younger players, names with spelling variants. None of those is suspicious. It simply means the automated route did not resolve, and a human needs to look.
Separately, additional checks can be triggered later by deposit volume or unusual patterns. That is a different obligation, anti-money-laundering rather than identity, and it is covered further down.
Exactly what to send
| Purpose | Accepted | Not accepted |
|---|---|---|
| Identity | Passport, UK driving licence, national ID card | Expired documents, photocopies of photocopies, provisional paper licences |
| Address | Utility bill, bank or credit card statement, council tax bill (under three months old) | Mobile phone bills, handwritten letters, anything undated |
| Payment method | Card photo with middle digits covered, e-wallet screenshot showing your name | Images where the name or account is not visible |
| Source of funds | Payslips, bank statements, sale or inheritance documentation | Screenshots without institution branding, edited files |
Why documents get rejected
Rejection is far more common than refusal, and almost all of it is mechanical. In rough order of frequency:
- Glare or blur. Flash on a laminated licence wipes out the text. Natural light, always.
- Cropped corners. Security features live at the edges. A document with a corner outside the frame cannot be validated.
- Address document too old. Three months is the standard window, counted from the statement date rather than when you downloaded it.
- Name mismatch. The registered account name must match the document exactly. Married names, middle initials and hyphenation all cause stops.
- Wrong document type. Mobile phone bills are the classic, widely assumed to be acceptable proof of address, and almost universally not.
Each rejection restarts the review clock. Two rejections turn a two-day process into a week, which is the entire reason this page exists.
Source of funds: the check nobody expects
Beyond identity, operators must satisfy themselves that gambling activity is consistent with a customer's means. When deposits reach a certain level, or rise sharply, a source-of-funds request follows.
It asks you to evidence where the money comes from, recent payslips, bank statements showing salary, or documentation of a one-off event such as a property sale or inheritance. It is slower than identity verification because a person reads it, and it can pause both play and withdrawals while it is outstanding.
Two things are worth understanding. First, it is not an accusation; every British licensee does it and refusing to comply is not an option available to us. Second, the threshold is not published and varies, which means the only useful preparation is knowing the request exists so it does not feel like an ambush.
Ten minutes now, or three days later
Upload ID before your first deposit and the withdrawal stage becomes a formality.
The day-one routine
Fifteen minutes at registration removes the overwhelming majority of the problems people report about this brand.
Register with your exact legal name. As printed on your passport or licence, including middle names if they appear there. Not a shortened version, not the name you use socially.
Use the address on your bank statements. If you have moved recently, use the address your bank has, then update both together afterwards.
Upload both documents immediately, before depositing. Photo ID and a proof of address dated within three months. If the electronic check already cleared you, the system will say so and you have lost nothing.
Verify the payment method at the same time if asked. This is the step most often deferred, and it is the one that resurfaces at withdrawal.
Keep the documents to hand. A folder with a current ID scan and last month's bank statement makes any future request a two-minute job rather than an evening.
Do all five and your first withdrawal behaves the way the payout timings page describes: a few hours of review, then the payment network. Skip them and the same withdrawal becomes the week-long ordeal that fills public review sites.
Situations that need a bit more care
Four circumstances make verification harder than the standard path, and all four are manageable if you handle them before depositing rather than after winning.
You have recently moved house
Electronic checks lag address changes by weeks or months. Register with the address your bank currently holds, verify against that, and update both together once the move has settled through the credit-reference files.
Your name has changed
Marriage, divorce or deed poll leaves you with documents in two names. Register in the name on your primary photo ID and current bank account, and be ready to supply the linking document, a marriage certificate or deed poll, if an older record surfaces during a check.
You live in shared or temporary accommodation
Proof of address is the sticking point when no bill is in your name. A bank statement posted to the address is the most widely accepted alternative, and council tax documentation works where it applies. A tenancy agreement is sometimes accepted; a letter from a landlord generally is not.
You are using a payment method in a slightly different name
Middle initials, hyphens and shortened first names all count as mismatches to an automated check. Correct the registration to match the payment instrument exactly rather than hoping the review is lenient, it usually is not, and fixing it afterwards takes longer than fixing it now.
In all four cases, the same advice applies: raise it with live chat before you deposit. An agent can flag the account so the reviewer expects the discrepancy, which turns a rejection into a note on the file.
Questions UK players actually ask
What ID does Casumo need?
Photo identification, passport, UK driving licence or national ID card, plus a proof of address dated within the last three months, such as a utility bill or bank statement. Payment method proof is sometimes requested as well.
How long does Casumo verification take?
Electronic checks are often instant and invisible. Where documents are reviewed manually, expect roughly 24 to 72 hours per submission, with the clock restarting if an upload is rejected.
Do I have to verify before I can play?
Yes. British rules require age and identity verification before gambling, not before withdrawing. Most accounts clear this automatically without noticing.
Why was my document rejected?
Usually glare, blur, a cropped corner, an address document older than three months, or a mismatch between the account name and the document. Mobile phone bills are not accepted as proof of address.
What is a source of funds request?
A required anti-money-laundering check asking you to evidence where your money comes from, typically with payslips or bank statements. It is triggered by deposit levels and applies at every British-licensed operator.
Can I withdraw before verifying?
No. An unverified account cannot be paid, and a request left outstanding can be returned to your balance after a grace period rather than processed.
Is it safe to upload ID documents?
Licensed operators are required to protect personal data under UK data protection law. Upload only through your account area on our own site, never by email or through a third party.
